Loughborough Women's Aid
A safe haven for anyone suffering any kind of abuse.
"When I arrived at the refuge I felt my world had ended. Three months later, I’m still here, but things are getting easier."
ALWAYS REMEMBER: IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT … AND YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Loughborough Women’s Aid (LWA) believes that all people have the right to live safely and without fear of violence and abuse. We can provide shelter and support to any woman experiencing or fearing violence or abuse, and offer outreach support to women and men. We are committed to raising awareness of domestic abuse, working towards its prevention and eradication, and assisting those affected by this crime to determine their own lives.
This website gives friendly advice for anyone:
- trying to escape domestic abuse
- needing to know more about our services here at Loughborough
- wishing to learn more about domestic abuse issues
As a member of the Women’s Aid Federation of England, LWA is part of a network of over 300 projects, providing over 500 refuges, helplines, outreach services and advice centres throughout England. In the year 2001/02, our national network of domestic abuse service providers supported a total of 143,337 women and 114,489 children, with over 40,000 women and children staying in our refuges. A further 35,000 individuals telephoned the Women’s Aid twenty-four-hour National Domestic Violence Helpline (0800 2000 247) for information and support.
Our service has an Equal Opportunities Policy whereby no-one receives less favourable treatment than another on the grounds of race, colour, culture, ethnic origin, religious or political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital status, age or disability.
Above all, we are here to listen, to help, to support and to give you the time and space to make good decisions.
