Support for male victims

Loughborough Women’s Aid also offers Outreach and IDVA support to male victims of domestic abuse.
You may feel as if you're the only man who has ever experienced domestic abuse, but you're not alone. Although research shows that it is mainly women who experience domestic abuse, this doesn't mean that men don't suffer too. One in six men suffer some form of domestic abuse in their lifetime.
At Loughborough Women’s Aid we aim to offer:
- Outreach support for Male Victims in Charnwood and North West Leicestershire from a trained support worker.
- Listening support; you can talk anonymously.
- Resettlement support; help with setting up a new home and integrating within the community.
- Emotional support.
- Advice on personal safety.
- Access to training and education opportunities.
- Help in accessing other services available.
Men have the same rights as women to be safe in their own homes and are protected by exactly the same laws as women. All statutory services (such as the police, Crown Prosecution Service, housing departments and social services) have a duty to provide services to all, whatever their gender.
If you are a man experiencing domestic abuse and you need emergency help you can call the police on 999.
Remember:
- You are not alone.
- It is not your fault.
- Help is available.
